She is the very first artist to achieve this creative and difficult feat in the world. She made the daunting Himalayas her dancing stage, and performed Kathak where temperature hovers in minus degrees even in summer. Not only this, but she performed barefoot, without any oxygen masks or cylinder and without any warm clothes but her Kathak dancing silk outfit. If that's not Brave, then what is? Yes! Shruti Gupta, a trained Kathak Dancer has dared to dance at 5 snow laden Himalayan passes between Manali & Leh.

On Oct 18, 2015, Shruti ventured to the Baralacha Pass in the Zanskar Range, near Lahaul and Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh. Bringing colour and festive feel to the snow laden pass was her Kathak Performance, which she dedicated to the Indian Army as a gratitude towards them. Her Barefoot yet powerful performance at above 17,000 feet above sea level lasted only 10 minutes, but was enough to set her name in the Limca Book of Records. And this was just the beginning!

A year later, on Oct 27, 2016, she performed in a similar setting at Khardungla pass, which was 18,000 feet above sea level and again without any oxygen aid and barefoot. She chose the theme "Ek Muhim Atankwaad ke Khilaaf" which was "Campaign Against Terrorism" and at -24 degrees Celsius she performed to show the army jawans that all Indians, like her are thankful and with them on protecting the Country. As she danced for a full 20 minutes this time, the Jawans were seen cheering her by chanting " Vande Mataram". Hearing of this, PM Modi also felicitated Shruti for her contribution.

The 3rd time, she danced in the mountains was at 5 different passes, namely, Rohtang Pass, Baralacha Pass, Nakeela Pass, Lachungla Pass and Tanglangla Pass. Her theme this time was "Save Nature" and performing in such settings gave her a chance to stand up for these causes. Now that's the determination we would often see in an Army Soldier, not only braving the cold and lack of oxygen, but making sure that her dance performance gives the cause she is standing up for a much needed support.

No wonder, Shruti's birthday is on 15th August as she is every bit of a Patriot to her country. Talking about the recognition she receives, she says “Till I reach the Everest, I want to do something each year.” We wish Shruti Gupta achieves more such heights of success and more records to her name.
