New Delhi - The eleventh President of India and world renowned scientist Dr. Today is the birthday of APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam's life journey has been an inspiration to many. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. As the country's 'Missile Man', Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is known. He is known as the President of the people because of his unique style of work and different way of thinking. Kalam passed away on 27 July 2015 while lecturing in front of students at IIM-Shillong.

- Abdul Kalam's full name was 'Abul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam'.
- Abdul Kalam was known as the Missile Man of India, the President of the people. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna.
- After graduating in aeronautical engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, he started working in DRDO (Defense Research and Development Institute). He designed helicopters for the Indian Army.
- Kalam got the opportunity to work under the famous astronomer Vikram Sarabhai in the early stages of his career. In 1963, Kalam visited NASA, the world's leading space research organization. He then started work on PSLV and SLV-3 projects. Both projects were successful.
